Semiahmoo Potters September 2025

In September 1994, 11 peninsula potters gathered for their first Semiahmoo Potters Members’ meeting. Their goal was to provide studio space for experienced potters wanting to develop their craft, share ideas and work together. Thirty-one years later these values continue as we begin a new year with 50 members working in the Crescent Park Studio on 132nd Street. Enjoy some images of potters connecting with potters and the community. . .

This summer potters have been creating steadily, preparing for fall activities. Our membership continues to evolve, with some people stepping away from the club to focus on new activities and new community potters joining us. Because these changes affect the co-operative nature of our group, we’ll be adjusting studio operation roles and plans for community programs. In September and October we have several events:

  • Sun., September 7th clinician Amelia Butcher workshops with SPS potters teaching surface decoration on bisque ware

  • Sun., Sept. 21st Amelia Butcher’s surface decoration workshop with community potters

  • Sat., Sept.27th 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Crescent Park Studio Open House: observe SPS member Dan De Montreuil sharing hands on chattering techniques with our potters, and visit the studio gallery to view and buy members’ creations

  • Sat., October 5th 10 a.m.–4 p.m. SPS welcomes White Rock & Surrey Culture Crawl visitors to Crescent Park Studio to observe potters in action, tour the studio and purchase ware from the gallery

  • Sun., Oct. 6th 10 a.m.–1 p.m. master potter David Lloyd workshops “hands on” handle application with community potters* [Our website will update participation availability.]

Right now, we still have openings for community potters who would like to improve their handle building skills. Participants will have a hands-on workshop on Sunday, October 5th 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at our Crescent Park Studio on 132nd Street. Registration information is on our “Classes” link.
